What I do

I run independent workplace investigations, chair disciplinary and grievance hearings, and give practical HR advice to care providers and small employers. I work online across the UK and in person across South Wales.

Before Arbiter HR, I spent nine years as Operations Manager and Head of People at a domiciliary care provider in South Wales, looking after around 200 carers and 500 clients. That meant live cases every week: misconduct, safeguarding allegations, grievances, absence, sponsored workers and CIW inspections. I know what a care manager's day looks like, because it was mine.

How I work

• Independent. I have no link to the people involved, so the findings stand up.
• Acas Code first. Every process follows the Acas Code of Practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures, and I show my sources.
• Fixed price. One price, agreed in writing before I start. No extras unless we agree them first.
• Plain English. Reports and letters that a manager can read and act on.
• Honest about limits. I am an HR consultant, not a solicitor. If you need legal advice, I will say so and point you to someone who can give it.

Qualifications and cover

• ILM Level 4 Certificate in Leadership and Management
• Level 3 Award in Education and Training (I design and deliver the training on this site)
• CPCAB Level 2 and Level 3 counselling qualifications, so difficult conversations are handled with care
• Professional indemnity insurance in place; registered with the ICO (data protection)
